Foundation News

Foundation A

We plan for Guided Reading sessions every week in Foundation. There are many benefits to Guided Reading. Students develop as individual readers while teachers provide them for support and scaffolding. Students learn skills and strategies that will allow them to read a variety of texts independently and experience success in reading for meaning. Foundation A students have been working on the following:

Lacing Lowercase Alphabet. This is a great activity for letter recognition and early spelling while building fine motor skills.
Oxford Handwriting letter Oo.
Reading levelled texts.
Completing a book response.
Reading sight words/matching sight words on a chart.
Reading/typing sight words on a keyboard.

We have share time at the end our Guided Reading sessions. Students have an opportunity to share their work and talk about what theyâ€™ve learned.
